ALAC concept

Below is an article and  video talking about how The Republican National Convention adopted an amendment in the spirit of American Laws for American Courts (ALAC) legislation to their platform:

Our friends at the Center for Security Policy captured the 58 second segment below, showing the adoption of the American Laws for American Courts (ALAC) concept into the national Republican Party platform.

When you watch it, note the reference to the passage of ALAC in Kansas. This effort was led by State Rep. Peggy Mast, a valued friend of ACT! for America whom we honored with our “Patriot” award at this year’s National Conference & Legislative Briefing.

Rep. Mast’s leadership, coupled with over 30,000 phone calls and emails generated by ACT! for America chapter leaders and members, led to the passage of ALAC into law in Kansas.

When the Republican Party was fielding ideas and “seconds” for its platform, ACT! for America generated hundreds of “seconds” in support of adding the ALAC concept to the platform.

CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, attempted to prevent the pro-ALAC resolution from being included in the GOP platform.

They failed.

That’s good news for freedom—and bad news for the Muslim Brotherhood.

Ken Timmerman at 9/11 Event

On Tuesday, September 11th, Maryland Congressional Candidate and Investigative Reporter Ken Timmerman will be taking part in a luncheon in Manhattan sponsored by the Middle East Forum.  At this luncheon, Ken will present new evidence of Iran’s direct, material involvement in the 9/11 conspiracy.  You can read the entire press release about the event below:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

New Evidence of Iran’s Involvement in 9/11 Attacks

Republican Congressional Candidate was Lead Investigator for 9/11 Families in Ground-breaking Lawsuit against Iranian regime

Kensington, MD – September 7, 2012 – Congressional candidate Ken Timmerman (Republican, Maryland’s 8th District), will present new evidence of Iran’s direct, material involvement in the 9/11 conspiracy at a luncheon sponsored by the prestigious Middle East Forum on Tuesday, Sept 11, 2012 in Manhattan.

For the past seven years, Timmerman has been the lead investigator for 9/11 families in their ground-breaking lawsuit against the Iranian regime, known as Havlish v Osama Bin Ladin et al.

DATE: Tuesday, September 11, 2012

TIME: 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.

WHERE: Park Avenue law office (details available online), New York, NY.

COST: $50 per person (lunch included).

ADDITIONAL DETAILS: There is limited capacity so please RSVP online by September 10th, or via e-mail (prosser@meforum.org), fax (215-546-5409) or phone (215-546-5406 ex.13). Business attire is recommended and Picture I.D. is required to enter the building.

The heavily-redacted trial brief presented in a New York court room last December by the Havlish attorneys was so compelling that U.S. District Court Judge George B. Daniels ruled from the bench against Iran and in favor of the 9/11 families.

Now Timmerman can reveal much of the information that was withheld from the public last year so ordinary citizens can understand why a magistrate judge recently awarded the families $6.6 billion in damages.

Timmerman’s presentation lays out a 30+year relationship between Iran’s Islamist leaders, who are Shiite Muslims, and Sunni Muslim terrorist groups going back the mid-1970s, when the future terrorists “interned” together at terror training camps in south Lebanon.

He will present never-before seen photographs of Iran’s top terrorist operative, Imad Mugniyeh – the real mastermind behind the 9/11 plot.

A nationally recognized investigative reporter and activist for religious freedom, Ken Timmerman has worked and written extensively on the plight of persecuted Christians in the Middle East, having traveled to Jordan to conduct research and meet with members of the persecuted church.

In 2006, he was co-nominated along with Ambassador John Bolton for the Nobel Peace prize because of his investigative reporting on Iran’s nuclear weapons program.

Mr. Timmerman has also been published in the Middle East Quarterly, the Middle East Forum’s flagship journal, on topics ranging from electoral politics in the Gulf to US policy toward Iran. Timmerman is currently a Republican nominee for the United States Congress, in Maryland’s 8th district.

Fact-Checking Bill Clinton

Do you think the President who lied under oath as a sitting President, was almost impeached, and lost his law license would tell the truth in his speech, ummm, NO:

Fact-Checking Bill Clinton

Bill Clinton was off his game tonight in one of the longest nomination speeches in the history of humankind.

The former president began his DNC speech mocking the the very idea of self empowerment and individual success. After seeming to imply that he could work better with compromise than the man he was nominating, he launched into his trademark rhetoric:

In Tampa, we heard a lot of talk about how the President and the Democrats don’t believe in free enterprise and individual initiative, how we want everyone to be dependent on the government, how bad we are for the economy.

[…]

We Democrats think the country works better with a strong middle class, real opportunities for poor people to work their way into it and a relentless focus on the future, with business and government working together to promote growth and broadly shared prosperity. We think “we’re all in this together” is a better philosophy than “you’re on your own.”

Unfortunately for Clinton, the facts work against him. Under Barack Obama, more people than ever before have been reduced to government dependency. Offering meager entitlements in exchange for a chunk of self sovereignty is not only bad for the economy, it’s antithetical to the spirit with which America was founded.

Clinton tried to claim credit on behalf of the Democrats concerning jobs and touted his own record — that wasn’t possible without a Republican controlled-congress which passed welfare reform and balanced the budget in spite of him, not because of him.

Clinton attacked the tea party:

Unfortunately, the faction that now dominates the Republican Party doesn’t see it that way. They think government is the enemy, and compromise is weakness.

I don’t get it: either the tea party is dead or it’s all-powerful and controls the GOP. If the Republican party is dominated by the tea party, why is their presidential candidate a moderate?

Clinton remarked that Obama has done wonders for our economy:

I like the argument for President Obama’s re-election a lot better. He inherited a deeply damaged economy, put a floor under the crash, began the long hard road to recovery, and laid the foundation for a modern, more well-balanced economy that will produce millions of good new jobs, vibrant new businesses, and lots of new wealth for the innovators. Are we where we want to be? No. Is the President satisfied? No. Are we better off than we were when he took office, with an economy in free fall, losing 750,000 jobs a month. The answer is YES.

Let’s see:

a $16 trillion-dollar debt

740k women driven from the workforce

more Americans than ever on government assistance

shrinking workforce

devaluing the dollar

We’re better off? Really?

Clinton tried to shift the blame to Bush. Again, the facts do not support Clinton’s assertions:

In the wake of a recession that began roughly seven weeks after President Bush took office, America experienced six years of uninterrupted economic growth and a record 52 straight months of job creation that produced more than 8 million new jobs. During the Bush presidency, the unemployment rate averaged 5.3 percent. We saw labor-productivity gains that averaged 2.5 percent annually — a rate that exceeds the averages of the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. Real after-tax income per capita increased by more than 11 percent. And from 2000 to 2007, real GDP grew by more than 17 percent, a gain of nearly $2.1 trillion.

As for Obama’s claim that Bush “turned a budget surplus into a deficit”: by January 2001, when Bush was inaugurated, the budget surpluses were already evaporating as the economy was skidding toward recession (it officially began in March 2001). Combined with the devastating economic effects of 9/11, when we lost around 1 million jobs over 90 days, the surplus went into deficit.

Rather than whine incessantly about the situation, President Bush proposed policies that triggered the kind of sustained growth that saw the deficit fall to 1 percent of GDP ($162 billion) by 2007. Indeed, before the financial crisis of 2008 – which I’ll return to in a moment — Bush’s budget deficits were 0.6 percentage points below the historical average. (My former White House colleague Keith Hennessey eviscerates Obama’s assertion that we faced a “decade of spiraling deficits” here).

Now let’s consider Mr. Obama’s record: an unemployment rate of 9.5 percent, with 131,000 jobs lost in July, during our so-called Recovery Summer (Vice President Biden promised us up to 500,000 new jobs a month back in April). The overall unemployment rate, incorporating people who want jobs but did not look during July, is now 16.5 percent.

Clinton claimed Obama saved the auto industry, another lie:

The auto industry restructuring worked. It saved more than a million jobs, not just at GM, Chrysler and their dealerships, but in auto parts manufacturing all over the country

Except a number of Chrysler plants are now in Mexico and over 61% of Chrysler is owned by an Italian company. The auto bailout is widely considered a failure.

GM is once again flirting with bankruptcy despite massive government purchases propping up its sales figures. GM stock is rock-bottom. Losses continue to be revised in the wrong direction. According to the Detroit News, “the Treasury Department says in a new report the government expects to lose more than $25 billion on the $85 billion auto bailout. That’s 15 percent higher than its previous forecast.”

He also lied about domestic energy:

President Obama’s “all of the above” energy plan is helping too – the boom in oil and gas production combined with greater energy efficiency has driven oil imports to a near 20 year low and natural gas production to an all time high. Renewable energy production has also doubled.

The fact? Oil production increased ONLY on private and state-owned land. Federally-controlled land? Stagnant. That oil imports are low is due to these private and state-run producers, in spite of Obama, not because of him, a refrain you will hear repeated with regard to Democrat policies.

Democrats talk of alternative energy but are content to ship those jobs overseas, along with our stimulus money. Instead of enslaving us to Persian Gulf oil, they’ll enslave us to China’s rare earth metals.

On Obamacare, Clinton claimed:

More than 3 million young people between 19 and 25 are insured for the first time because their parents can now carry them on family policies. Millions of seniors are receiving preventive care including breast cancer screenings and tests for heart problems.

In his closing remarks, Clinton threw out a few new phrases which have become hallmarks of modern progressive, socialist-Democrats [my emphasis]:

If you want a country of shared opportunities and shared responsibilities – a “we’re all in it together” society, you should vote for Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

[…]

If you want a future of shared prosperity

Union Pickets GOP HQ

Below is an editorial from Mark Uncapher, the Montgomery County (MD) Republican Chairman:

Being a Republican and a conservative in Montgomery County often requires a healthy sense of humor.

Here is an example:

This past Thursday protestors from SEIU Local 500 representing school bus drivers descended on Montgomery County’s Republican Party headquarters complaining about Romney’s comment that:

“When a young person makes the honor roll, I know it took a bus to get to school, but I don’t give a bus driver credit for the honor roll.”

Our county school bus drivers’ union was offended by this. Seriously, you cannot make this stuff up.
See: News story SEIU Website

I do not minimize the responsibility or professionalism of Montgomery County’s school bus drivers. However their trying to claim credit for whether individual students making the honor roll is simply silly. They frankly should be embarrassed for trying to make this argument. However SEIU does not embarrass easily.

Apparently SEIU thinks that when I was a Montgomery County Public School System parent, I should have told my kids that they were not really responsible for making the Honor Roll, being on a winning team or top ranked extra-curricular activity. Instead they should have been told to give the credit to their school bus drivers. Try that on teenagers and I guarantee a generation of Republicans.

Ever since Obama’s infamous “You didn’t build it” comment, we have had a national debate over individual vs. collective responsibility. This debate reveals the deep divide in values between collectivists, such as SEIU, and those who value individual autonomy and personal achievement.

Willingness to accept accountability for failure is the best test for who really deserves credit for “Building it.”

So here is the test for determining who really “Built it.” If you were willing to be accountable for what happens if something does not succeed, you deserve full credit when does. However if you will not take responsible for failure, you do not deserve to claim success.
It is the student, not the bus driver, who gets an F instead of an A, if she fails to study.

Ryan Rocks the RNC

NiceDeb posted an article today regarding Paul Ryan’s speech at the Republican National Convention.  You can read the article below, as well as watch the video of Ryan’s speech:

Reportedly, Paul Ryan worked on his speech for weeks, and it was a doozy. While it was a serious speech, he managed to zing Obama several times throughout, but as Charles Krauthammer said on Fox News afterward, it was “done more in sorrow than in anger”. It was a smart speech that addressed Medicare head on as only the wonkish Ryan can. We can already predict the unserious demagoguery the Obamacrats are going to deploy in Charlotte, next week, and it will fun to make a contrast.

Paul Ryan is sincere. He means what he says. Obama and the rest of the Dems Socialists who still stand with him will have nothing but scaremongering and lies to offer in Charlotte, and Obama’s lies are getting less convincing with each telling.

A Star is Born

On Tuesday night to kick off the Republican National Convention in Tampa, FL, Utah Congressional Candidate Mia Love gave a speech that received a standing ovation. You can read the article about her speech from the NiceDeb blog below, as well as watch the video of the speech:

Charismatic Utah Congressional candidate, Mia Love kicked off the RNC convention, Tuesday night, with a powerful speech that had the audience on their feet cheering. Love, a rising star in the Republican party, would if elected, be the first black Republican woman ever elected to congress.

Transcript from the speech, via The Daily Caller:

“Let me tell you about the America I know,” Love began. “My parents immigrated to the U.S. with ten dollars in their pocket, believing that the America they had heard about really did exist. When times got tough they didn’t look to Washington, they looked within,” she said.

“So the America I came to know was centered in personal responsibility and filled with the American dream,” she said.

As Love went on to attack President Barack Obama, the crowd continually interrupted her, cheering wildly.

“President Obama’s version of America is a divided one — pitting us against each other based on our income level, gender, and social status,” she said. “His policies have failed! We are not better off than we were 4 years ago, and no rhetoric, bumper sticker, or campaign ad can change that.”

“Mr. President I am here to tell you we are not buying what you are selling in 2012,” she said.

An important reminder from Paul Mirengoff of Powerline:

This is a voice we need in Washington. However, she faces a tough race against a popular incumbent Democrat.

Immigration Agents File Suit

Yesterday, Newsmax printed an article about the fact that ten employees at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement are suing the Obama administration to block a new program to let many young illegal immigrants avoid deportation and get a work permit.  You can read the entire article for yourself below:

Immigration Agents File Suit Over Obama ‘Amnesty’ Program

Ten employees at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement are suing the Obama administration to block a new program to let many young illegal immigrants avoid deportation and get a work permit. The suit also claims that directives from the Department of Homeland Security and its secretary, Janet Napolitano, force agents to break the law by not arresting certain illegal immigrants.

Kris Kobach, the Kansas secretary of state and an immigration adviser to presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, is representing the employees. The lawsuit was filed Thursday in federal court in Dallas.

The 22-page filing, which names Napolitano and ICE Director John Morton as defendants, contends that the Obama administration’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals plan violates federal law.

The Department of Homeland Security did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Napolitano has previously defended the plan.

The suit says the mandate “unconstitutionally usurps and encroaches upon the legislative powers of Congress.”

Kobach equated the move to give thousands of illegal immigrants a reprieve to the failed Fast and Furious gun-walking operation.

“In both instances, the Obama administration ordered federal law enforcement agents to break the law, to ignore the laws that they’re supposed to enforce, and, in the case of the ICE agents, to actually break federal laws that say you’re supposed to deport certain people,” he told Fox News.”And in each case, the Obama administration seems to be doing so for political reasons.”

Kobach is a co-author of the Arizona illegal immigration law.

Napolitano has in the past defended the mandate.

“These policies promote the efficient use of our resources ensuring that we do not divert them away from the removal of convicted criminals by pursuing the removal of young people who came to this country as children and who have called no other country home,” she said.

Tax Credits for Illegal Immigrants

The following article from FoxNews talks about the 7 billion dollars in tax credits that illegal immigrants are scheduled to receive.  You can read the entire article below:

Illegal immigrants could reap more than $7B in tax credits this year, senator says

Published August 22, 2012

March 20, 2012: Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., the ranking Republican on the Senate Budget Committee, gestures during a news conference on Capitol Hill in Washington. (AP)

Illegal immigrants could receive more than $7 billion this year in federal tax credits, according to one estimate, thanks to a loophole in the law that allows people not authorized to work to reap the government payments with no questions asked.

Sen. Jeff Sessions’ office calculated that, based on recent trends, illegal immigrants could receive roughly $7.4 billion through a provision known as the Additional Child Tax Credit. That’s more than quadruple what the payout was four years ago, but the payments have been steadily increasing over the past decade.

Though illegal immigrants are prohibited from receiving similar tax credits, a quirk in the law allows them to qualify for the child tax credit. And it’s a “refundable” credit, meaning recipients can reap the money — with average checks totaling about $1,800 — even if they’ve paid no taxes.

An aide to Sessions, R-Ala., the top Republican on the Senate Budget Committee, said the issue is a “serious matter that deserves attention” and another sign of how “Washington is disconnected from reality.”

Illegal immigrants can qualify because even people not authorized to work in the U.S. are supposed to file returns with the IRS. If they don’t have a Social Security number, they are provided what’s known as an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number in order to file returns.

And those filers are not excluded from claiming the Additional Child Tax Credit, which is offered to some families with children under 17 years old.

A report last year by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration found the claims added up to $4.2 billion in 2010. Sessions’ office calculated the $7.4 billion figure based on the IG report numbers and White House budget numbers.

The IG report last year recommended that Congress pass legislation to “clarify” whether the tax credits should actually be paid to those not authorized to work in the U.S.

Sessions co-sponsored a bill earlier this year to bar illegal immigrants from receiving the credit, but the bill was blocked from reaching the floor by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

Reid at the time said the bill targeted the children of low-income Hispanic families.

Recent expansions to the credit under the stimulus law are set to expire at the end of the year.
